"Cairo cats are street-smart survivors with an aristocratic lineage. Approach them as you would your fluffy, fireside feline and you will immediately have a cross-cultural misunderstanding," writes Lorraine Chittock in her book Cairo Cats: Egypt's Enduring Legacy. "Notice instead their lunar eyes coolly scanning the relentless bustle around them, their long bodies slinking through souks and down alleyways as though they own the place. And in a way they do, these mystical survivors from a dynasty dating back to the very cradle of civilization."

ReplyDeleteThese cats look regal with the sleek bodies and those eyes. The first little kitty is so sweet that I would want to take it home.
ReplyDeleteI wonder how people treat their street cats there?
ReplyDeleteThey are all beautiful. I love all things feline.

We've been in Cairo several times in recent years and thankfully have seen few street cats - those we've encountered haven't been as lucky as those in your photos. A lovely recap of Cairo and cats though.
ReplyDeleteNice to see Egyptian cat.
ReplyDeleteGreat post as usual. I would not live without travelling. Wherever you go becomes a part of you somehow.
ReplyDeleteTravel early and travel often. Live abroad, if you can. Understand cultures other than your own. As your understanding of other cultures increases, your understanding of yourself and your own culture will increase exponentially.
Did you know that you can print favorite photos of your work and hang them on the wall as canvas prints? Bring your ideas into real life, with an option to print even small photo canvas
