If only Parisian pigeons could be replaced by cats... But even though cats aren't as common a sight as pigeons, photographers still succeed in immortalizing them. From the 1920s to the present day, here are the most beautiful pictures of cats in Paris.

Thise are such terrific photos and there are sure lots of cute kitties!
ReplyDeleteOf course in France the cats surrender to the mice. I did really like the tiny beret.
ReplyDeleteThis is almost an embarrassment of feline riches. What glorious photos!! As I type this, my oldest, Cecilia (pronounced à l'italienne), is sitting in front of the screen, purring away and trying to distract me from the competition. Oh well, she's pretty much allowed to do anything she wants. This month she turns 21 years old. We've been together since she was a kitten. The rest of the members of our cat ménagerie knows that she is the Queen of her Castle. My husband and I serve as butler and housekeeper, respectively.
ReplyDeleteSo delighted to have found you through Mariette.
Cheers, M-T
Best. Post. Ever.
ReplyDeleteI don't normally associate Paris and cats. But these were beautiful and in so many cases, particularly sophisticated although the little girl looked as though she was going to squish to cat to death.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed these pictures!
ReplyDeleteI was surprised to see old pictures of cats with leashes - I thought this was a modern thing. I wonder what is happening on this picture with all the black cats in a row? Some kind of cat show / exhibition?
beautiful pictures - i love them all :-)
ReplyDeleteFirst time seeing cats put on a leash. Are they having some kind of cats exhibition or competition? I think the one with the cap is really cute. Purrr.....
ReplyDeleteOh wow, so many cute kitty images. I do not usually see kitties on leashes though, I guess it is good to keep them safe. The beret kitty is adorable.. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Have a happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteFANTASTIC POST Oh La La! I just love the third shot as he is obvioulsy a true Frenhman
ReplyDeleteWow what great set of photos. I especially love the one where kitty and woofie are looking at something together. That is so cute :-)
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful photos. I'd never seen cats being walking on leashes.
ReplyDeleteAwww. Enjoying every shot, especially the cat and dog in the balcony :)

ReplyDeleteOh. My. George! These are amazing pictures of kitties in Paris!!! I definitely tweeted this post. I want others to stop by to check these out. You're wonderfully talented behind the camera and the places you visit....simply beautiful! Thanks for stopping by to visit my humble sARTurday creation. You're a peach!
ReplyDeleteI am impressed that the French cats have no problem being walked on a leash.
ReplyDeleteThe View from the Top of the Ladder
Love these photos!
ReplyDeleteWhoa! Authetic French cats! You think any of them would date me?

ReplyDeleteGreat post and book but it would have been nice if you'd set up links for us to paste into facebook, G+ etc. When I tried to paste URL's it just went to your blog, not the book. I don't mind promoting, but I am not terribly computer literate so it would help to have links set up that we can then copy and place on the sites you ask for. I finally just gave up.
ReplyDeleteVanessa, you have made my day! Thank you so much for sharing this series, I absolutely love every single photo here! :)
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely adore this post, what beautiful, beautiful pictures! (Also love the art of Avalon on your book's cover, we wish you the very best!)
ReplyDeleteWonderful shots!
ReplyDeleteMy old cat Max would tolerate a leash, but NOT if you were holding it. It had to be tied to something, else he was offended and would fight back.

ReplyDeleteThere are some real gems in there. A really epic cat post! Your book sounds awesome, too.
ReplyDeleteWhat great pictures! Mom has framed postcards from France with cats and a lovely book in French she bought there. The one picture of the cat on the roof reminds her of a hotel room and watching a cat walk all over the roofs and then go back in his house through the window. Only in France! Love Dolly
ReplyDeleteI have always wanted to visit Paris. Love the black and white photos. I have never seen so many cats on leashes! Love the little girl's huge smile and the cat with the hat on is too cute. :) Thanks for sharing!
